I thought I should quickly share with you all how my birthday went.
It was very quiet, and fairly uneventful, but at 43 that's all I kinda expect really ;-)
My husband made me breakfast, and nice cup of coffee in bed.
My Mother took me out for a cappachino, and then we had lunch at one of the local pubs here in Strath 'The Commercial Hotel'. I had a really decent size serve of Vegetarian lasagna, and Mum had roast lamb.
We played the pokies for an hour, but neither of us won anything. However I must say I felt good about the all the noises the p
okie machines make. It distracted me from having to listen to my tinnitus during that time ! :)Anyway I received some gorgeous birthday cards, see photo. My husband gave me the lovely fairy sitting on the unicorn statue, a friend of mine gave me 2 pewter dragons that have red gemstones in them , along with a very cute note about what their names are and about how they are meant to bring good luck ! :)
Another long time online good friend of mine (who was married the same day and year as us), sent me a beautiful card (the one with the monkey and parrot), and two really pretty bracelets in my fav colours ! ( see photos on the left hand side). If you are reading this Cris, Thankyou, I love them ! :)
The day ended with having takeaway for tea. I had a delicious Vegetarian yiros from a place call 'Your Choice Cafe, which is here in Strathalbyn also .

All in all, it was a lovely day.
Oh I forgot to mention that another friend of mine is taking me out to the movies next week as a belated birthday pressie. wohooo ! :)
Happy Birthday for the other day then Jules....
ReplyDeleteIt seems the older we get the less important our birthdays feel....
I simply adore the black bracelet...I do love anything that is different and stands out...It is stunning....
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the day..Sometimes the simple things in life give us the greatest pleasure...
Hi and thankyou Mandy ! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah You are right about the older we get, the less our important our birthdays feel. Note how the postie brings less cards each year to us ! LOL
I love the black bracelet as well (thankyou again). I have a thing for bracelets ;-)
My friend told me she got them from Diva (we don't have them up here unfortunately)
You are so right about that sometimes the simple things in life give us the greatest pleasure !! :)
I hope you have a lovely day Mandy xoxo
Jules, a long time ago during a very difficult time I read "Some things are easier to do than to think about doing." You did it. You survived. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteThank you David, you are so right (once again!). Yes I did it, and yes I survived it,and even wrote about it ! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for what I have. Life could be far worse, and yes Life is reasonably good :) xoxox

How is the birthday paradox illustrative of problem related to collision in hashing? Note: Birthday Paradox says that if there are more than 23 people in a room, there is a better than 50-50 chance that two of them have the same birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday.Find someone with a newborn baby and babysit it for the weekend... That ought to be enough to convince her.
ReplyDeleteIt really depend on the type of person your friend is. What are her interest? Typically, the best gifts are the ones that can be experienced. For example, if she likes music, buy her tickets for a concert so she can enjoy it in person.
ReplyDeleteI've been busy, so haven't been blogging much, but thankyou for your comments :)
