Some of you might remember when I uploaded this photo and story to my flick photo site? (Photo taken at Victor Harbour, not far from Goolwa)

Well almost 2 years later, it looks like our dream is coming true finally !!

It's a very long story, but between me having a dream one night a couple months ago about living in another house, and our rent going up again, we decided to give it one more shot at buying house (on our one income)

Out of the blue a house we could afford came up on the net in my dream sea side town 'Goolwa'. We went and had a look at it, and put in an offer straight away. It was knocked back, but a few days later our third offer was accepted, and so we now have a house of our own!! ( It has taken over 5 weeks to get it all organised through our bank, another long very stressful story!, but we got there in the end !)

The only slight problem is that it is still on probate until end of Sept (it's a deceased estate), and so all the official paperwork can't be done until that time. However the vendor and agent are hopefully working out an agreement that we can move in before then, until we can take over properly! So just waiting back to hear, so we can start packing !

It's just a small 2 bedroom fibro house (not asbestos), but it is very neat and tidy, and has a huge back yard, so has heaps of potential to improve it over time ! :)

It does need modernizing, as it belonged to an elderly couple, but will get around to that eventually. I am hoping to create a beach cottage look/feel to it .

I won't post pics of it until it's all 'official' :)

The best part of it is it is just a few mins away from Goolwa Beach !! How lucky was we to get a place as close as this one is for the price we got it for !

So am hoping all goes smoothy, and I can move fwd finally with my life!

The town is much bigger than Strathablyn, so there is more oppuntunities for me/us!

My health is still bad, and my tinnitus has gotten worse, so has my fibromyalgia , but hopefully this will help put me in a better frame of mind to cope better with it all ! :)

Hope all is well with everyone? My apologies for not being around as much. I just don't seem to have the attention span I once had to keep up with all the busyness that goes on in the blogging community anymore :(

Anyway just had to share my exciting news with you all !

More about Goolwa here (can't remember how to do links anymore eek! )

It's near quite a few other beautiful coastal towns, which don't take long to get to by car. :)

  4. Your promised absolute water frontage on a beautiful deck but you get a deck with no water and swamp. The so called Private Jetty is public and people walk pass peering into your window so the blinds need to be closed all day

  5. The 'swamp' is the Murray River which is in drought at the moment and this is what all the calls from the Goolwa and Lakes people is about that there is not enough water being released into the Murray River and it is affecting businesses like Birks who rely on tourism.

  6. Goolwa was once a thriving Riverport but now the boats carry just tourists and its historic buildings have been restored as art galleries.

  9. Oh for sure, but I just thought it would have been nice to have been told that when you book it for a stay, also it was very run down, and if you go to their website it looks like new. Cheers .
